Day one
I have made a decision! I am never going to go on a diet again. I have been dieting since I was 12 and I am now 38 and have had enough!! The problem is I am still overweight by about 15-20 kilos but the thought of eating no carbs or exercising until I am nearly sick is just too unbearable especially as they don't work. I have read Geneen Roth's books and I am going to give her philosophy a go. For those of you who haven't read Geneen Roth, she is a great believer in throwing away diet books and recognising why it is we overeat in the first place. Getting in touch with our feelings. All I have to do is live by 7 eating guidelines and this blog will be about my journey in sticking to those 7 principles and I will probably get in touch with the emotions and feelings behind my eating.. god help us all LOL 1) Eat when you are hungry 2) Eat sitting down in a calm environment 3) Eat without distractions. Distractions include: radio, television, newspapers, books, intense or anxiety-producing conversations, and music. 4) Eat only what your body wants. 5) Eat until you are satisfied 6) Eat (with the intention of being) in full view of others 7) Eat with enjoyment, gusto and pleasure. The biggest problems I will have is knowing when I am full and eating without distractions. So every time I eat I am going to blog about it and I am also going to blog about how I was feeling at the time. This is going to be an interesting journey!
